The term “Tissue Level” means that these will be “soft tissue level” implants. This name is associated with their design feature, which provides for the presence of a “polished neck” on the implant. The soft tissue of the gums will be located at the level of the latter. All implants in this series have several release forms, and they can be chosen with an SLA or SLActive surface.

Moreover, for this implant it is possible to use not only a one-stage, but also a two-stage implantation technique (when the implants are engrafted under a tightly sutured mucoperiosteal flap). - The “Standard Plus Short” (SPS) implant option has a length of only 4.0 mm (with a diameter of 4.1 or 4.8 mm). This is the shortest internally connected screw implant available on the market. It is used when the bone height is insufficient, when bone grafting is considered undesirable for the patient. According to clinical studies, this version of implants in most cases is not inferior in effectiveness to implants with a longer length.
- But the “Tapered Effect” (TE) implant has a cylindrical shape only in the apical part, and in the neck area it has a conical shape. This anatomical design makes this implant indispensable for immediate or early implantation into the sockets of extracted teeth. In addition, the Straumann Tapered Effect implant can be installed using either a one-stage implantation technique (using immediate and early loading protocols) or, in some cases, using a two-stage technique.
Conclusions: clinical studies have shown the survival rate of Tissue Level series implants in patients at 97-99% (within 10 years). The advantage of this series of implants is the ease of creating an abutment of soft gum tissue to the implant, because there is no need to use a gum former and, accordingly, to carry out intervention to install it. But on the other hand, implants of this series will never achieve the level of aesthetics that can be achieved with Straumann BL and BLT implants.
